*The light sweater is made with CottonWool 5, col.101 by Gepard Garn - [SIZE M].
*The blue sweater is made with Como col.43M & Premia col.9 by Lamana - [SIZE M].

The Phoenix Sweater is worked top-down in stockinette stitch. It begins with the back, which is worked flat with increases to shape the shoulder slopes, and then continued down to the armholes. Stitches are picked up along the shoulder slopes to work the left and right front flat, with increases to shape the V-neck. The front is then joined and worked as one piece to the armholes. Underarm stitches are cast on, and the body is joined to work in the round to the hem, finished with sewn bind-off. Then, stitches are picked up around the armholes to work the sleeves. The sleeves are shaped with short rows first, then worked in the round with increases and decreases, and ending with sewn bind-off. Finally, the neckline is finished with an I-cord edge.

Size guide:

The sizes XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL (4XL) 5XL are designed to fit a bust circumference of 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) 120-130 (130-140) 140-150 cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) 47¼-51¼ (51¼-55) 55-59 in].

The Phoenix Sweater has an oversized fit and is designed to have approx. 25 cm [10 in] of positive ease, with the larger sizes featuring less ease to ensure a more balanced and comfortable fit. This means the garment’s measurements will be approx. 25 cm [10 in] larger than your bust circumference, depending on the size. Measure your body before you begin to choose the size that fits best. For example, if your bust (or the widest part of your upper body) measures 95 cm [37½ in], you should knit a size M. The finished garment for size M is 120 cm [41 in], which gives approx. 25 cm [9¾ in] of positive ease.

Measurements:

Circumference: 110 (116) 120 (125) 133 (140) 148 (158) 167 cm [43¼ (45¾) 47¼ (49¼) 52¼ (55) 58¼ (62¼) 65¾ in]
Back length (excl. neck): 56 (58) 59 (61) 62 (63) 66 (68) 69 cm [22 (22¾) 23¼ (24) 24½ (24¾) 26 (26¾) 27¼ in]
Note that the finished measurements can only be achieved if you maintain the correct gauge throughout the project.

Suggested yarn:

Suggestion 1: 600 (650) 700 (750) 750 (800) 850 (900) 950 g CottonWool 5 by Gepard Garn (50 g = 100 m [109 yds]).
Suggestion 2: 250 (275) 300 (325) 350 (375) 400 (425) 450 g Como by Lamana (25 g = 120 m [131 yds]) held together with 100 (100) 125 (125) 150 (150) 175 (175) 200 g Premia by Lamana (25 g = 300 m [328 yds]). Keep two strands of yarn held together throughout the process.
Alternative yarn:
This design can be worked either with a single strand of worsted-weight yarn or with two strands held together in a DK + lace combination. For a single strand, look for 100% wool or 100% cotton yarn at approx. 100–120 m [109–131 yds] per 50 g. If working with two strands, choose either wool yarn at approx. 175 m [191 yds] per 50 g held together with one strand of silk mohair at approx. 210–250 m [230–273 yds] per 25 g, or wool yarn at approx. 250 m [273 yds] per 50 g held together with one strand of 100% cotton yarn at approx. 250 m [273 yds] per 50 g.
