The Chantal Scarf is worked flat in a slip stitch pattern. It begins at the center of the upper edge, and increases are worked to create the triangular shape. Finally, the stitches are bound off using a curl-free bind-off method.

Note that the finished measurements can only be achieved if you maintain the correct gauge throughout the project.

Gauge:

26 sts x 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 in] in slip stitch pattern on 4 mm [US 6] needles. Swatches are measured after washing and blocking. Adjust needle size as needed to match gauge.

Suggested needles:

4 mm [US 6] circular needles 80 or 100 cm [32 or 40 in] 
3 mm [US 2½] circular needles 80 or 100 cm [32 or 40 in] used only for bind-off and the preceding set-up rows.

Suggested yarn:

Classic by Cardiff Cashmere (25 g = 112 m [122 yds]). 
Color A: 25 (50) 75 g 
Color B: 3 (4) 4 g Color C: 3 (3) 4 g

Alternative yarn: This design can be worked either with a single strand of DK-weight yarn or with two strands held together in a sport + lace combination. For a single strand, choose 100% cashmere or similar yarn at approx. 112 m [122 yds] per 25 g, or classic wool at approx. 140-175 m [153-191 yds] per 50 g. If working with two strands held together, choose 100% wool at approx. 230-250 m [252-273 yds] per 50 g, held together with one strand of silk mohair at approx. 210-250 m [230-273 yds] per 25 g.
